Dubai One, MBC 4, MBC Action, MBC 2, Physique TV and City 7 TV are exclusive English channels that are aired free for the viewers. The programmes are mostly in English along with Arabic subtitles excluding City 7 that doesn’t provide subtitles. Popular US and UK drama series are telecasted on Dubai One, MBC 4 and MBC Action. Local drama series are provided by Abu Dhabi TV. The Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) run the Dubai TV which airs local Arabic programmes and state broadcasts.
Dubai One being an English language entertainment channel is aired free with mainly US series, accessible throughout the Middle East and parts of North Africa. Physique TV is the first national TV channel dedicated for fitness, diet, well-being and sports with 24-hour programming both in English & Arabic. City 7 TV, a freely broadcasted English channel that offers news in English, business and shows pertaining to lifestyles along with foreign productions such as comedy shows and dramas. MBC is another popular TV network that runs many channels under its umbrella like MBC MAX, MBC1, , MBC2, MBC3 and MBC4.
Dubai is a center point for many radio stations (AM & FM) which are aired in Arabic, English, Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu and Pilipino. The FM stations are just at a distance of 2 or 3 frequencies which makes the FM band packed and on many occasions the channels overlap. Radio channels have grown in huge numbers over the past decade and their quality has improved. The government operates most of the radio channels even the privately owned are partially regulated by the government.
