Dress code and Traditional Saudi costumes

The observation of dress code is not for the people of Saudi Arabia alone but even those who visit. If you are visiting the area it is always good to ask for guidance on how you are expected to wear. Visitors are expected to dress smart and in fashionable clothes, men are supposed to wear suits and so does the women.  The skirts should be long enough to cover up to down their knees. Women are not supposed to wear trousers. Traditional Saudi costumes are strictly prohibited among the visitors. The strictness of dress code differs depending on the region, for instance women in Jeddah have more freedom regarding veils and covering their bodies compared to those in Riyadh. During functions such as wedding women are expected to wear in a modest fashion manner. Men are supposed to dress formally to the occasion; khakis and sports shoes are acceptable in casual functions. Dress code is also enforced in primary and secondary school to ensure that the young people are aware of what the society expects from them. The way people dress in Saudi Arabia is just meant to make good impression.
