People of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is mainly occupied by Arabs; who make approximately 90% of the total population. Islam is the main religion of Saudi Arabia and Arabic is the official language. Other minority groups in Saudi Arabia are Asians and Africans. The population of Saudi Arabia is approximated to be slightly above 26 million people.

A bigger percentage of Saudi Arabia people are farmers who cultivate crops and rear animals. Those who are nomads and semi-nomads raise sheep, goats, camels and horses. These farmers normally cultivate crops for domestic consumption while those with large agricultural land do extensive farming for both domestic and commercial purposes.

Many things have changed in Saudi Arabia and people living there have greatly welcomed the changes. For instance, there are many foreigners living in Saudi Arabia who normally work in the oil fields, computer technicians, consultants, construction sites, etc. The people are gradually moving into industrialized areas to seek employment as more foreign investors are gradually investing in various sectors of Saudi Arabia’s economy.

The education systems of the state have also changed as both men and women have equal opportunity to study in the schools of their preferences and pursue courses of their choice. Unlike in the past where women could only be taught matters related to mothers and housewives, female students can now study technical courses just like their male counterparts. This has given women an equal opportunity to compete for top jobs in the country and made them determine the political position of the nation too.

Despite the several challenges that Saudi Arabians are facing among them being terrorism, the people living there are slowly transforming to cope up with the rest of the world. Most of the aspects are progressively changing and large expectations are with the Saudi people.

Saudi Arabia is also home to some of the most famous people in the world among them being: Osama Bin Laden (leader of Al Qaeda), Eddie Izzard (an English comic), Majed Abdullah (was voted best footballer in the history of Saudi Arabia), Ramiele Malubay (finished 9th in the American Idol season seven), among others.

The general society of Saudi Arabia has changed largely and people living there can now do their things differently compared to the past years. The dress code, education system, entertainment, politics, etc. have really changed and this has been made it open up to the whole world. More people are currently moving to invest, work or live in Saudi Arabia. Today, the Saudi people are even becoming friendlier.
