The Saudi education system is mainly lead by the Ministry of Education, the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Higher Education. Other establishments like the Presidency of the National Guard, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense and Aviation offer their children and affiliates with education at every stage, steady with the Ministry of Education plans. The biggest authority supervising the educational system in Saudi Arabia in named the Supreme Committee for Educational Policy, formed in 1963.
According to the database of World Bank, the public spending on educational field is 6.8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and spending on learning as the percentage of governmental expenses were 27.6% in 2004. Educational spending as overall expenditures was tripled from 1970 till 2000, and due to this fact, neither the price of oil reserves nor the economic growth had affected the trend.
The educational system of Saudi Arabia aims to make sure that the students will be ready for their lives and work in the latest world, along with participating in the country’s economic, religious and social needs. Another objective of their educational system is to eliminate the adult illiteracy from the country.
Normally, the educational system is divided into two major parts. First one is general education consisting of kindergarten stage where children get six years of primary schooling and then go to intermediate and high schools for three years.

In the high schools, student will give comprehensive exams two times in a year under the regulation of the Ministry of Education.
The Saudi Arabian educational curriculums are diverse. They involve various subjects like literature, Islam, history, math, science and Arabic. Their Ministry of Education makes special oversees and overall standards of education as well.
The government always makes efforts to improve their educational standards by providing best training plans for teachers, improvement programs for student evaluation and maximizing the use of technology for education.
For instance, twelve years back computer science was added as a subject in the secondary level of Saudi educational system. The authorities were also improved by providing provincial schooling boards to make higher decision making administration.
All these efforts are induced. Not just the quantity of schools has been increased considerably, but also the quality of educational standards. But still, their teacher-to-student ratio is just 12.5 which is one from the lowest all over the world.
