Arab World and Information Communication Technology

Many countries in the Arab states, the children and youth effectively use Information Communication Technology tools out of the schools. In Egypt, during the Arab Spring, youth uses mobile devices and the Internet which is very vital for the development of primary and secondary education. Higher levels of education increases with the Information Communication Technology integration. Children and adults are learning to acquire digital literacy through basic computer skills.

The Arab states like Jordan, Oman, and Qatar have a special approach about the inclusion of basic computer skills at all three levels of primary, lower, and secondary level. But in Egypt and Palestine, covering basic computer skills only begins in lower and upper secondary level, not in primary education. Oman is an Arab state which have a very special approach in the extension of Information Communication Technology in all levels of curriculum and education. Jordan and Qatar have use Information Communication Technology in all subjects, in primary to secondary education.

Telecommunication facilities in schools is generally poor like in Egypt which has a large rural areas. In Qatar, all primary educational institutions have a telephone communication facility. Egypt with its large rural country has a low share of computer regardless of its big allocation, but striving its efforts to extend an Information Communication Technology assisted instruction. Oman has a strong capacity to support its advanced Information Communication Technology assisted instruction. About 80 percent of the computers in Oman are connected to the World Wide Web.
