Makkah as a place of pilgrimage for Islamic believers

Makkah as a place of pilgrimage for Islāmic believers
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon His name) made a triumphant return to Makkah around 630 CE, taking the city without any confrontations. The prophet then purged Makkah of all of its paganism and idolatry. He went on to clear the House of God, or Holy Kaaba, of all the pagan gods the residents had placed inside. This marked a turning point in the Muslim religion and revitalized Makkah as a place of pilgrimage for Islāmic believers.
