Saudi business woman and Power
From having no right to vote or be elected to a high political position to being prohibited from driving; it’s no wonder why Westerners tend to misinterpret a woman’s position in the society of Saudi Arabia. The women population, though, doesn’t seem to mind these rules. They’ve growned accustomed to their traditions that most of them tend to be close minded on new ideas. In the Global Gender Gap of the World Economic Forum in 2009, Saudi Arabia ranked 130 out of 134 countries for gender parity. With such devotion to their religion, the gender roles in Saudi Arabia are taken from Sharia, an Islamic law that covers the moral code and the religious law of Islam. It’s just so that when the Qur’an does not address the subject itself, the clerics will appear to be cautious and make the subject forbidden. One example would be banning women from driving.
