Culture and Tradition in the Arab Countries

Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest Muslim Country. It is situated in West Asia and it’s the second largest state of the Arab world. As this is a Muslim country, its culture is strictly based on Islamic traditions. The general dress code of Saudi Arabia is similar to the other Arab countries.
The general dress code of Saudi Arabia is also based on Islamic culture and traditions. As Islam encourages conservative dresses for men and women, the dress code of Arab countries follow the Islamic dress codes. Women have to wear conservative and loose fitting clothes and veils. Men also have to wear proper dresses to cover their body. They have to follow the principles of hijab.
Men of Saudi Arabia are seen to wear long clothes mainly white colored long dresses inside and pajamas.  The ankle length dress worn by the men of Saudi Arabia is known as Thawb. The traditional headdress worn by the Arab men are known as Ghutrah, which is fastened by Agal.
The dress worn by the women of Saudi Arabia is known as Abayah. This is a full black cloth which is long enough to cover the whole body. The women have to cover their faces with Niqab.  The dress code of Saudi women is such conservative that other persons can hardly see their eyes and in some cases the women also wear a veil over their eyes. Any non-Muslim women living in Saudi Arabia also have to wear Abayah as it is the law of the country.
The dress code of foreigners are not that much strict like the locals. But they have to maintain the local trends and customs. So foreign men are not allowed to wear shorts in public and they have to wear long trousers and shirts. Foreign women can wear loose fitting skirts below the knee. They should wear dresses with at least elbow length sleeves.
